Hi. We are adults with learning disabilities who live in the South West of England. We took part in a project called Barriers and Bridges. The project involved workshops where we learnt about film, animation, photography and art. We made new work about things that are important to us.
Please take a look at our film to see how we got on. Just press the play button.
The project was initially funded by a grant from Awards for All. The workshops were facilitated by film-maker, Mike Juggins and several volunteers. Mike has worked with many groups of people and had this to say about the project:
"I have really enjoyed working with such creative and thoughtful people. I hope that the work they produced has enabled them to have their say about the issues that impact on their lives. One thing is for certain, they should be very proud of it."
Barriers and Bridges was user lead and the people who took part were able to learn new creative skills in order to express themselves. The work has helped them to share their experiences with the rest of their communities. Some of the people who took part belong to a democratic parliament group who meet regularly.
Further funding has enabled the work to extend to the building of this ection of the website and we hope to achieve very much more together in the future. Watch this space...
We are always looking to support creative people. Please contact us with ideas of how we might work together.
